The DTC GB3 is referred to as a cheap basic phone yet heavy duty in build quality. We got a unit here for quite some days already and I have been playing with this phone and even used it as my regular personal phone for my everyday communication use. Well, this phone is just a basic phone and not much high-end specs to expect here, but still its worthy to take out for a review.
This phone is being sold for just Php888 price tag. Definitely a considerable price for a basic phone nowadays. The design isnt bad at all, and the phone is very easy to use. The complaints I had with the previous DTC GTV1 Stark and DTC GE1 phone that I had reviewed way back months ago is not present anymore on this device. Im glad that they did listen to that.
Anyways, let the images guide you on the depth of this review.
The DTC GB3 has the green box. Same, it has the features printed on it. I just noticed that they now use bigger boxes compared to the previous DTC mobile phones they had released earlier.
Here’s a quick glance on its specs and features:
- Dual SIM
- 1.3 megapixels camera
- Video player
- 1.8″ colored LCD
- Music player
- FM Radio
- support micro SD up to 16GB
Unboxed it is, here’s what you can get inside the packaging:
- 1 DTC GB3 phone unit
- USB data and charging cable
- wall charger
- 1 x 1100mAh battery
- manuals and warranty cards
I am not sure if until now, DTC Mobile offers a free SMART SIM card as freebie when you buy any unit from them. But they do, when I last checked ’em out on the malls.
This is how the DTC GB3 looks like. Its a simple and basic phone, no TV here and not touch or QWERTY here. The keys are not too small, easy to use and the overall body design is easy to grip.
With my inspection on its design and material built, I cannot see why it was said to be a heavy duty phone that is able to withstand dropping incidents. The material is made of pure plastic, I suppose and I dont feel any rubber here so that’s quite a mystery.
I haven’t made my official drop testing with this DTC GB3 phone unit as I fear it wont survive. I am planning to give this unit away and I do not want the winner to receive a prized phone that is full of bumps and cracks. But if you guys insist that I should make a drop test video, then we’ll come up with that.
However, there are already a couple of dropping incident that happened unintentionally with this phone. It slipped to my hands while I was walking and swaying my hands. Maybe I am not just used to smaller units as my regular phone was a 4.3″ Android phone. But guess what, not cracks or bruised on the phone, it just split into pieces but when re-assembled, still works like normal and nothing had happened.
Here’s some likeable assets of this DTC GB3:
- cheap price, only at Php888
- nice design
- heavy durability
- fast response
- easy to use
For quite some time already, I had this DTC GB3 unit as my extra phone and a single charge of the battery lasts for more than 5 days. No more fear of risking my Android device when I need to send message or make phone calls even at public areas and transports. I know, you know what I mean here.
Well, I guess that pretty much sums up what you should know about this nifty cheap DTC GB3 phone. As I had said, we are planning to give it away to our readers soon, along with another DTC phone (review coming up) so stay tuned!
